Embarking on an all-day volleyball tournament with my grade 6/7 team was an amazing experience as a teacher and coach. The gym was buzzing with excitement and a bit of pre-game jitters as we kicked things off. Our warm-up routine was a mix of drills and team chants, setting the tone for a day filled with ups and downs. The matches got intense, with every point feeling like a mini victory. We faced setbacks, sure, but the team’s resilience was something else—encouraging each other, rallying back, and turning the game around. I was so amazed and impressed by all the players win or loose they cheered for eachother and other teams. Reflecting on the day, I saw more than volleyball skills developing; it was about teamwork, grit, and good sportsmanship. Our team bonded and really developed a sense of community within our team. Coaching this team as been an amazing experience Ive loved every moment of it. Coaching this team wasn’t just about winning and making the perfect play it was about fostering a fun environment that allowed the kids to play without pressures and just have fun with their class outside of a school setting. I got to see the team develop so much over the weeks. I will definitely continue coaching and look forward to taking this experience away with me.
